They must have called me every day, numerous times a day. It was so hard on me and my family. We got used to ignoring calls and not checking messages. We felt like we were in hiding.
Discover the secret to repairing your credit for good and stop harassment from NCO Financial.
NCO is one of the largest debt-buyers on the market. Once they sink their teeth into you, they will report your bad credit to ALL the major credit bureaus and destroy your good credit!
What do I need to know about NCO Financial?
NCO Financial Services (NCO) is a collection service agency. Creditors solicit their services in order to collect debts you haven’t paid. NCO may work on a “retainer”, or will buy your debt from the original creditor and attempt to collect it from you.
If you owe a debt to:
- A credit card company
- A doctor or clinic
- Utility companies
- Auto financiers
- Any other loan company
Watch out for NCO. They may begin calling or contacting you. Watch out for a collection agency with any combination of “NCO” in the title, especially NCO Fin or NCO Financial.

I had the biggest issues of all with NCO. They must have called every day, numerous times a day. It was so hard on me and my family. |
Even though I worked out something with the original creditor I owed the debt to, NCO’s bill collectors didn’t care. They kept calling, and they made sure to ruin my credit. They placed multiple entries on my credit report for the same debt. I was furious!
I felt absolutely powerless. They called for months and months and months. I had to start screening all my telephone calls. I also tried numerous times to rectify the situation myself, sending letters and trying to get the original creditor. NOTHING WORKED.
Even though I worked out a payment plan with the original creditor – NCO Financial continued to RUIN my credit rating!
Finally, I discovered Lexington Law – a group who fights negligent collection agencies like NCO. I didn’t even know a third party company could help me, but I discovered they successfully removed NCO from credit reports hundreds of times already! They told me all about my rights, and helped me fight NCO successfully.
Before I knew it, they’d fixed my credit report. They even took off items that weren’t related to the NCO issue. My score got better and better over time! I couldn’t believe it.
Here is a letter from one of the credit bureaus showing the deletion:

Here is another letter from Equifax, showing another NCO deletion:
Lexington Law deleted hundreds of dollars in chargeoffs. There were duplicate items on my reports, old medical bills I didn’t even know about, and so many more issues. They took care of them all!
They helped me with more than I expected. If credit bureaus refuse to delete your inaccurate bad credit listings, Lexington can help with some of their escalated intervention techniques.
If you need help getting NCO off your back and your credit report, you have nothing to lose by giving them a call to see what they can do.

There is a right and a wrong way to deal with NCO Collection Agents.
Too chatty with a bill collector? Being too friendly? Failing to deal with the collector appropriately can back you into a corner, eliminating your chances of fixing your credit.
There is no need to be afraid of a bill collector. They most likely receive a commission off getting more money out of you, so “being friendly” and “making small talk” could just open you up to agreeing on a larger amount for payment. Don’t surrender your negotiation skills because you are scared of a confrontation.
The best way to deal with an NCO rep is to remain as professional and business-like as possible. Try as much as possible to negotiate in writing. You’ll have much more control over the situation, and you’ll have a written record of contact, if you choose written communication over telephone calls.
Remember that if you write a letter and discuss legal proceedings, the creditor has no idea if you are communicating or if your lawyer is writing on your behalf. The creditor also has no idea if you’ll follow through with threatening legal proceedings, and this puts the ball in your court.
How to Negotiate with NCO Financial
You CAN make the collections agency an offer they can’t refuse. Follow the steps below to resolve your debt and get closer to closing your account.
- Step 1 : Go through a process called “debt validation”. This will force the company to prove you owe the debt. Quite often, they can’t prove it, and your debt is absolved. If you’re unsure about how to do this, a href=”http://www.lexingtonlaw.com/?tid=1648.0.blog” onClick=”return trackLink()”>give Lexington Law a call. You’ll learn about Debt Validation. (This helped get rid of my really stubborn bad credit items.)
- Step 2: What can you afford to pay? Agencies like NCO often buy out debts at 10-70 cents per dollar of debt. Keep this in mind when you’re calculating how much you can pay.
- Step 3: Make an offer. Don’t try to hurry through the process – if you appear impatient, NCO will try to get more money out of you. Ensure there is a clause in your contract that states NCO will remove the collection in question, and will work with you to remove the chargeoffs/debt from your credit report. WARNING! READ THIS! Making an offer to pay may restart the clock on debts beyond the Statute of Limitations which can severely undermine your rights! Don’t make an offer if the debt is beyond the statute of limitations. Seek help from a trained professional before you make an offer to pay!
Often times, even if you resolve the debt, NCO won’t work with you to get the negative entry off your credit report. Lexington Law can help! Click the button for a Free Credit Consultation.
